How to I set up this chart?

    Hello Everyone,

I have a somehow simple question: I would like to build a chart that looks the same than in the picture. Do you have any idea how to setup this? We have the year, the number of participatints in the corresponding league/year and the position of the club?

It looks like a pretty standard stacked column + line combination chart. I see one line chart data series and six stacked column chart data series. Not knowing what data you have or how it's arranged in the spreadsheet, I would expect to work towards arranging the data in the sheet something like this (note that I'm assuming the y axis starts at 0 and values increase going up. If that assumption is incorrect, this will look a little different):
Please Login or Register to view this content.
Select this table and insert a stacked column chart. Change the chart type for the line chart series to line chart to create the combo chart. Format chart elements as desired, formatting the "blank column" series to be invisible (no border, no fill).

That's what I would expect to do. Does that help you get started?

    Hello MrShorty,

That definitely is a good starting point. I have a created a table that looks like this. Maybe this also helps you to understand you better how the data needs to be arranged. What do you think about it?

Season Position Participated in League … Wars Participants League 1 Participants League 2 Participants League 3 Participants League 4
    2017/18 1 League 4 10 10 16 16
    2018/19 1 League 3 12 16 16 16
    2019/20 15 League 2 12 16 16 16
    2020/21 6 League 2 12 16 16 16
    2021/22 7 League 2 12 16 16 16
    2022/23 2 League 2 12 16 16 16

I don't understand what the data means, so I cannot readily see how to manipulate this source data to get it into the table that will be necessary for the stacked column + line chart. I find that many chart questions really end up being more about the spreadsheet than the chart. If you help us understand what data you are starting with, how you intend to calculate the data that the chart will show, we should be able to help you arrange those calculations in the spreadsheet. If we do that part well, I expect the chart will be easy to create from there.
