I read an article http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;214139 about unliking the chart from its data and thought this would be useful as I have 9 charts in seperate workbooks which I would like to copy into a new workbook via vba so i can distribute them easily.

however following the instructions given, it doesnt seem to work.

I have a chart with series listed as ='Snagging List - Template.xls'!Countdates

its a named range using standard offset and counta to give me the current size of the data. when I right click the chart, select 'source data' then click within the values box (theres only one series), it highlights the data on the source sheet, and I then press F9 or ctrl+=, nothing happens at all. If I click the little box to the right of the values box which allows you to select a new range, and do f9 again, still nothing happens.

any ideas? I want to record this in a macro so I can open each of the 9 workbooks as read-only, unlink the charts, copy the chart and paste it into a new workbook. Obviosuly as the unliking isnt working I cant even begin to work out the rest of it.

thanks
