Hide the data label for a data table in a chart

Excel is automatically adding a title or maybe it's called a data label
[shows in name box] to the line of date from the data table in my chart.
It's calling itself Series 1 and I can't figure out how to hide it. Help!

    Kathy -

Go to Chart, Chart Options, Legend, and uncheck Show Legend.

    Kathy -

The data table includes the series name. You can change the default "Series 1" to
something more descriptive: choose Source Data from the Chart menu, click on the
Series tab, select the series from the list, and type a label in the Name box.
