Charting dates.. an annoying problem

hi guys I was plotting some points with corresponding dates.
And when I charted it, on the x axis, excel charted dates that don't even have data for it to make the scale uniform.

I would like to make it so that it only charts dates that actually have data.

So in otherwards I don't want excel to have a uniform scale.
For example if I have data for Mar 1, Mar 2, Mar 10
I don't want the in-between space between Mar 2 and Mar 10
I want the data side-by-side. So the data points between Mar 2 and 10th connect to each other.

When I changing the cell properties to 'text' solved the problem, but when I do that I can't use the previous cell plus one function to increase the date, so I would like to keep the cell as a 'date'
I tried playing around with the scale but it didn't work..
any help would be appreciated
