Automatic minimum value Y-axis for stock charts = 0 ???

why is excel setting the minimum y to 0 on this chart? is there any way to redefine the "automatic" criteria so that the minimum value on the Y-axis is always equal to 10% less than the minimum value in the data set?

    Hi,

jpg's are nice, but not really useful for solving what is behind the picture that you show.

I note that you appear have multiple data series listed in the Legend, would it be that you have some zero figures in your setup?

MS didn't provide a way to tamper with their code. However, as with many aspects of Excel, you can override MS's algorithm with your own using a VBA Sub Procedure (probably associated with the calculate event). Basically you would look over the data you're plotting, determine the minimum value in the data, and then come up with your own algorithm for deciding what to set the minimum value of the axis to. If you are familiar with VBA coding, look in VBA help for the MinimumScale propery of the Axis object.

If you are unfamiliar with VBA, then you've got to start by learning basic VBA.
