    Categories as data for y-axis

    Hi all,
I have a problem to create chart in Excel, it supposes to be easy (I thought..). I have categories (A,B,C, etc) and the respective values. I would like to have a chart with the category as the data for y-axis (ordinate), instead of the x-axis. It looks like that Excel always recognizes the values (numbers) as the data for y-axis and the categories for x-axis automatically.
    Could somebody help me please?

    Thanks!!!!

    Chart - Y and x axis

    Hello,

In the Standard Chart type select Bar and then select Clustered Bar. This chart type compares values across categories. Your category becomes the Y axis.

    Hope this helps you.

    Thanks Corine,
I did not realize that option, but do you have any idea if I want to have it as line chart, not bar/column chart?

    Thanks!

    Chart y and x axis

    Hello,

In Excel Charts y axis are for value types (numerical) and the x axis for categories but there is always a workaround. Try this site --

    Hope this helps you.
