    help with job scheduling

    Hello and thanks for reading.

I have been scheduling the work orders that the machines run at my work. I have been experimenting with many different types of speadsheets and charts.

What has been working for me is basically a 13 column 36 row chart. 1 title column and one column for each machine. I have one title row, then after that each three rows repeating for "work order" "part description" & "time". The time rows all add up and total on the 34th row. This works well for me, but i would also like to make another more visual type of chart.

What i have been doing on this other chart is using the 1st column for the date and each row is a 2 hour segment. Then for each job i merge the proper amount of cells together (10 hour job is a 5 row block in that machines column).

Doing all this manually really takes a long time. I ave to resize every block at the beggining of each work day.

Is there any way that i Excel or anyother software can automatically see the time for the job and make the right size block? Where i can drag and drop them from machien to machine?

Any and all help is much appreciatted!!!!
    Thanks you!

    Hi there (Michael?)

Could you post/send me a copy of the workbooks you're using? I feel sure it should be possible to significantly reduce the manual aspects of the process.

    Best regards,

    Greg M
