inserting a form or linked field into a chart

    Hello,
Is there any way to insert a form field or a linked field into a chart? I would like to insert a "total n = " and have a value that is linked to a spreadsheet displayed on the excel chart, but I do not see an option to do so.

You can link a text box to a cell. In Excel 2000, it has to be very straightforward (e.g. =Sheet1!A1) and can't be something like "="n = "&Sheet1!A1". I would recommend setting that formula up into a cell and then reference that cell. You can even format the cell text to white if you don't want to present it.

For example, if your value is in A1, in E1 you can have ="n = "&A1.
Then draw a rectangle or text box on your chart (either works). Click in the formula line on toolbar and type =E1. You can modify the font formatting inside the text box without changing the cell.

    Does that work for you?

that was perfect and exactly what I needed. Never noticed the function option in the text box before.
    Thanks for the swift reply
