    Date label for data points.

Is there a way to label individual data points with a date label? Right now, I export the Excel chart to PowerPoint and add the labels myself. I am using Excel 2003.

    Thanks,

If your data is dates, then right click the data series and select format data series

On the data labels tab check the Value box, ok

Then Right click the data labels, select format data labels and then you can customise how you want the dates shown

Then once all the points have dates you can select the ones you don't want individually (click data labels once, then once again on the point to remove - click slowly or you'll open the formatting options again!) and press delete to get rid of them

As raehippychick says you can enable data labels then delete the un-required ones.

But I guess there is more to your problem that you have not stated yet.

Do you want to label certain points with a date that is not currently being used in the charts data source?
Perhaps post example and explain further want you are trying to do.

    Date as data labels.

You are correct Andy. I want to put date labels on the points and it is NOT the X or Y value for my data point.
