    Duplicating the exact same chart

Hi all, I am new here and new to excel, wonder if this is actually possible to implement?

I would like to have a duplicating chart on another sheet. This is the scenario:-

    Chart A + Data - Sheet 1
    Chart B (Duplicate of Chart A) - Sheet 2

Everytime I add data to Sheet 1, and modify my data set for Chart A. Chart B changes accordingly.

    Is this possible?

    Hi,

you could set up your chart with named ranges, adjust the range names when your data changes. Then click the chart on Sheet1, copy it, and paste it on Sheet2.

Make some changes to the data and see that it changes the chart on Sheet2 as well.
Add some more lines to your data table, adjust the range names to include the new lines and see the changes reflected on both sheets.

    Hope that helps

thanks for your idea..that was fast......it works...but because I am trying to group like 20 graphs into one sheet ....when I run out of the range, I will need to recopy the 20 graphs.

Also I easily run out of label as I have to pre-select a bigger range.

    8dee,

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "when I run out of the range" and "I run out of label". Can you explain a bit more?

Depending on how your chart data is laid out, you may be able to work with dynamic ranges that will automatically adjust when more data is added to the table.

Maybe you can post a sample workbook with two or three graphs so we can work out a solution.

    cheers

...what I wanted to say is the legend will be full..

if you look at the attachment....you notice that the date range is from jan 1 to jan 20....but when I populate data at jan 21...the legend will not appear. Usually what I do is to move the data selection. But when I move the data selection, the duplicate graph will not change accordingly.

I have actually tried another way by using macro to copy and paste the graph into a new sheet ...it needs time to load [because I have more than 20 graph]but it does the job well.

The legend shows all your data series, it just rolls off the visible chart area because the font is too big. Choose a smaller font and you will see more data labels in the legend.

Other than that, it works as I described in my answer. Since you've already included empty columns in your chart data, every new series that you enter will also appear on the chart without assigning range names.

I wonder if anybody can make sense of this chart, though, since most of the data overlaps.
