    Advanced charting question...

Using Excel 2003.... (please see attached .jpeg and .xls files)

How would I re-create the attached chart if I am given data laid out similarly to the attached spreadsheet file?

It must be late in the day because I am stumped here!

    Best,

    Nick

You just need to fill in the middle values and you will then have a graph such as in the picture.

Ah you beat me to it.
    You crazy Edmontonians.

What he's got there is an X Y scatter plot.

You can change the chart type to include the dots or remove them, or have the lines smoothed vs exact.

This is a great start, thanks! However, I am looking to mimic the graph exactly. Down to the x-axis range, and major/minor lines within the chart. I believe the original chart I included was not made on Excel but I am hoping to learn how to re-create it.

    Best,

    Nick

If there is a way to list the x or y axis in a non-uniform manner, I can not find it. That's not saying there isn't one, since I'm by no means an expert, but I didn't want you to feel that no one was trying.

The x axis is a log scale.
In order to get the axis labelled exactly as the picture you will need to create the axis yourself using an additional data series.

Use data labels displaying the X Value to create fake axis labels.
    The gridlines are error bars.

Move the dummy series to the secondary axis so you can fix the secondary Y axis to a max of 1. Then when you use error bars with a fixed value of 1 the lines will reach the top of the plotarea.
