Hpw do you move a chart with the arrow keys?

    Hi,

Images and shapes etc I can move around using the keyboard keys (left, up, down, right arrow keys etc).

However when trying to do the same with charts it just selects the different parts within the chart. I've tried to hold in CTRL + arrow key etc. But nothing seem to work.

Can anyone help? Please don't tell me it isn't possible...

On the other hand, you can just drag it with the mouse.

One way to line up a chart perfectly is to hold down the ALT key while dragging it. This way the chart will snap to the cell grid.

You can also select several charts and use the "Align or Distribute" command from the Drawing toolbar (under the Draw menu) to help you align several charts at once.

Re: Hpw do you move a chart with the arrow keys?

When you select a single chart 2007 you get the enlarged border selection and directions arrows will move you through the chart elements.

There is a selection tool. Home > Editing > Find & Select.

But again this enables the enlarged border.

If you select more than 1 chart and or shape you can use the cursor keys to move the group selection.

As suggestioned you can use the ALT key to snap to grid when dragging the chart with the mouse.

You can with code select the active chart such that the cursor keys will work.
Try this in the Immediate window. ALT+F11 CTRL+G

Re: Hpw do you move a chart with the arrow keys?

I had to exactly align several graphs and had the same problem. The mouse is just too ruggid for really exact alingment.

    Solution is simple:
    - Just insert some shape (a circle, or something) next to the graph or chart you want to move.
    - Group the graph with the shape and voila, you can move them with cursor keys.

Holding the 'Ctrl' key increases movement resolution even more. When your done aligning, just ungroup the chart and the shape, and delete the shape or use it for the next thing you want to align.

    cheers

    1) ctrl + x (Cut)
    2) Go to the cell you want. (ctrl + arrows for faster movement)
    3) ctrl + v (Paste)

The top left edge of the graph will be aligned to the top left of the cell selected.

Re: Hpw do you move a chart with the arrow keys?

I have the same problem all of a sudden and I am going bonkers. It was working just fine, I could press ESC until the entire graph is selected and then move with arrows. All of a sudden I can no longer do that. Has anyone found a solution, I am desperate. I have a 50 page ppt with a 100 line graphs on it... ((((
