Displaying time and date on x axis of scatter plot

Hi all
I've got a data set with date/time in digital format (so 22 Oct 08 14:00 is 39743.58333) and I wish to plot this on the x axis of a scatterplot against some numbers in the y. However when I come to plot this the x values only seem to go up to 550 so consequently when I try to change the x axis to give me the dates I get dates in the years 1900-1 rather than 2008. Attached is a worksheet

so it seems that instead of plotting the date/time x value x is plotting the data number i.e 1,2,3...
Help!

The file you posted created the X axis as expected with values in the range

39743 to 39752 on the X axis scale.

Sounds like your actual data is being treated as text. This would false the chart to create it's on sequential numbering for X values.

put 1 in a spare cell. Copy it and the PasteSpecial > Multiply over the range used for the X values.
