    Stacked Bar Chart

    Hello,

I am trying to make a stacked bar graph that displays the coverage of items in my companies network. Each investment item is either covered or open, and either on target for budget, Above budget's target, or Under budget's target.

Thus I have a variety of possibilities for the data:

    A) On Target -
    B) Covered Under Target
    C) Covered Above Target
    D) Uncovered On Target
    E) Uncovered Opportunity
    F) Uncovered Risk

But since the data is grouped by covered and open I can only color the graph two separate colors, in two series, open and covered.

Is there a way to have multiple colors within the stacked bar graph based on the possible buckets it could fall in?

There is an attachment, I want the graph to look something like the red, gree, and yellow chart but right now I can only looking like the blue and yellow chart.

    Please advise.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Stacked Bar Chart

currently you chart only has 2 values per row so you only get blue/yellow bars.

You some how need to determine the data for the 6 different items your cells are currently reporting. How did you know what colour to apply to each cell?
    Cheers

    Re: Stacked Bar Chart

I only want to graph the percentages for uncovered and covered; however, I want the bars to have different colors based upon the particular items current spend relative to its budget.

    - Covered On Budget
    - Uncovered On Budget
    - Covered Past Budget
    - Uncovered Past Budget
    - Covered Under budget
    - Uncovered Under Budget

Hold you just triggerred something. I have attached another example. Is this what you were thinking about?

    Thanks in advance.

    That's the sort of thing.

Stacked Bar Chart (automated/dynamic)- one more question

    Thanks.

I was able to create a vba module where the user could enter input information in an access form, export it to excel, seperate the data so it could be graphed, and then graph the information as we discussed in the previous post.

Unfortunately, the end result is correct but not in the correct format. The individual would like to enter the input information (which is dynamic), that's why I used an access form intially, and see the bar chart change as the chart sits along side the input data.

Is there a way to adjust what I have completed to allow that to occur, because right now I have a form and a graph which are seperate in two different applications, but in MS. And the bar needs to along side the data, but it appears that excel is graphing the data in the row order. Does this have to be done using VBA and if so can I get some direction?

I have attached a sheet, the top portion is what is desired, the bottom is what my end result is based on similar inputs. The graphs aren't representative of the data.

Let me know if I am making sense.

    Thanks

    Re: Stacked Bar Chart

It hard to say as the chart is linked to data I can not see.

Just looking at the chart item F has 2 parts

    Covered on Budget 44%
    Uncovered on Budget 55%

The cell diagram above the chart has item F 100% uncovered risk

So it looks like the 2 are displaying completely different things.

    Re: Stacked Bar Chart

I re-did the spreadsheet in order that both graphs resembled each other.

I want to create a dynamic stacked bar chart where the user can enter the information from cells E:G; at anytimemore products may be added to the cells D. I want the the chart or a chart similar to it, which is currently in
H3:DC to change automatically without the user having to graph the information.

I was able to create a vba module where the user could enter input information that is cells E:G in an access form , export it to excel, seperate the data so it could be graphed, and then graph the information.

However, the end result is correct but not in the correct format. The individual would like to enter the input information and see the bar chart change as the chart sits along side the input data. My process automatically created the chart that is in row 10-22 from the same information in rows E:G

Is there a way to adjust what I have completed where the form and graph which are in two different applications, but in MS aplications can be side by side.

    Please advise. Thanks

    Re: Stacked Bar Chart

    I'm Confused.

You have the principle of creating the chart in terms of each bars appearence.
Bascially each fill type is included but only those that are required have a positive value. Those not required have a value of zero.

You need formula in the cells C11:I15 such that the correct values are used.

What I can not see is how from the data in the rows above you can know the 6 different types of value should be.

As for making the chart dynamic you can use named ranges to expand the length of the chart series. There are many posts in dynamic named ranges on the forum.
