How do you have one source data in a chart flow into a 2nd source of data?

    Howdy,

Looking at the other charting issues posted here this is something that I am sure is most basic, however I am new to Excel. I tried Microsoft's official website, but the information there did not address the issue and kept pointing me towards a book, which is fine, but I won't be at a bookstore until tomorrow.

I have data for January on one work sheet in $B$6:$AF6 that I want to display in a chart. Easy.

However, I want the series to continue on (I think I'm saying that correctly) with the same line on the chart turning right into February. I'm using a line chart, not that it matters, but for a visual. February's data is $B$12:$AC$12 on the same worksheet.

I want to continue this on for the entire year, so that the entire year's data is on the same chart with one month right after the next.

    Thanks

    Hi,

If I understand correctly, you want the same line to continue as the months progress. For this, your best data layout will be one continuous column, otherwise you will have different data series.

It is fairly easy for a chart to automatically pick up and include data into a chart as soon as it is entered. If you want to learn how to do that, look here:

    cheers

Whilst you can use non-contiguous data your will be restricted by the length of the series formula.

It would be better/easy to consolidate your data on to a single sheet plotting the information in rows rather than columns

    Howdy,

Thanks for the info, it seems so simple now. I shall move my data into columns.

And the link is going to be very useful as once I turn this over to my friend THEY will be able to enter their data and have it update leaving me out of it.
