Floating Bar, Min-Max, and specific data points

Hi everyone. I've been asked to put together a chart, and it's been baffling me for the past week exactly how to get it the way my boss needs it done.

I need to put together a floating bar chart that shows not just the min-max of each series, but discreet data points as well. The min-max isn't a problem, but getting all of the data points has not yet worked.

I'm wondering if there is a way to combine charts and perhaps show a line with the data points beneath each min-max bar? Seems unlikely, as I've never seen a combo chart like that before.

See attachment. It's dummy data, the actual charts will be MUCH larger (as many as 30 categories down the x-axis). And I realize I'd have to change the data to show variance to get the min-max to work probably. The original data isn't in an easy table like this either, I'll probably have to use some formulas to move it around. Plus it'll have to be automated when additional data is added later.

Much thanks for any ideas or help!

Best is to give us a real WB example as you state
actual charts will be MUCH larger
The original data isn't in an easy table like this either

and you're data looks like distribution.

What info should be made clear with the chart.
If your boss looks at the chart he would like to see what exactly?
Looking for great solutions but hate waiting?

The chart should show names of families of products along the side, and their capacities in a chart format.

That is, the "Blue family" of products has capacities of 66.3 cubic feet, 68.9 cubic feet, 73 cubic feet, etc. The "Red family" of products has capacities of 44.8, 45.9, 51.3, etc.

The original data is in more of a database format -- one product per row, with other product information as well. I'll need to create a similar chart for some of the other information (size, width, etc). Once I get the "capacities" chart, the others should be fairly easy to do.

    Does that help?

I've managed to re-make your chart. In my opinion no added value, but you specify this is not required.

Fantastic. That's actually very close to what I came up with in the meantime, so it's helpful to see that seems the best solution possible for what he wants (even if it isn't really adding any value). Hopefully that style will work for what is required.

    Thanks.
