Charting Range of data by row

    Hi

The attached file has 2 sheets.
The first one ("Example") shows a chart report for each worker based on row data.

The second sheet ("Example 2") shows what I want to chart.

    1. Some workers have two rows of data (desktop and mobile) that I Want to show in the same chart.
    2. Charts must assume automatically the adding of new workers and new month data.

Are these changings possible to do?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi ioncila,

this data lends itself to a pivot chart. You just need to delete the empty column D and the empty row 14, then you can slice and sum to your hearts content with a pivot table and build a chart from that. Grouping by mobile and desktop won't be a problem.

If you need help getting started with Pivot tables and charts, check out www.contextures.com. There are many great tips and tutorials on this site.

Re: Charting Range of data by row

Teylyn's suggestion of a Pivot Table/Chart is a good one, taking into consideration the need to delete the blank row and column at the top of the data table.

In the attached example, I've created a Pivot Table / Chart, which is based on a dynamic named range as the data source. Because you expect to add more data it is necessary to create a dynamic named range for the data.

A dynamic named range will automatically expand or contract as data are added or deleted.

With this approach you only need to right-click the Pivot Table and choose refresh to update for the changes in the data source.

    Note:
I also added headers in the data table. These are required for the Pivot Table.

For the dynamic named range (name: = Database), I used a helper cell to hold a column count (keep getting issues with corruption in the formula).

    Dynamic named range formula: =OFFSET('Example 2'!$A$13,0,0,COUNTA('Example 2'!$A:$A),'Example 2'!B1)
