    Chart error--invalid references

This chart works fine when I select from the dropdown either 2 or 4, but since 1 and 3 do not contain data I get an error.

"A formula in the worksheets contains one or more invalid references"

I tried using NA() but that didn't seem to make a difference. How can I prevent the error when a value is selected that will not return any data?

    Re: Chart error--invalid references

Rocky, I don't know what's wrong with them, but I selected cells MMHRS!B2:J2 and MMHRS!B4:J4 one after the other and hit the delete key. After that, the chart sheet won't display the error message any more.

I've checked the cells before and after the delete, and they don't seem to have any different content, i.e. there was nothing in them to begin with, but somehow the delete action seems to have initialised them, or something.

I know it's not an explanation, but at least the chart won't bomb any more.

    Hi teylyn,

Thanks, that does help. At least now I know where the error is coming from...it was driving me nuts.

I guess now I can play around with maybe making the range display 0 on the MMHRS sheet if equal to nothing or maybe even a macro to delete the cells as you did.

Just for testing purposes the values on the MMHRS sheet were hard coded, but on the real spreadsheet they come via a formula.

I'll give it a go and thanks for the help...
