Creating a chart to show which products have the highest percentage of issues...

For work, i have a spreadsheet with a product and then 3 columns which i then fill with colors (red, yellow, green). What i want to do is calculate the percent green, yellow, or red for each product. I understand that i cannot create a chart/graph with colors, so i need to assign a numerical value to represent these colors. Let's say i add a 1, 2, or 3 to each line. How can i then find the percentage of 1's, 2's, and 3's and ideally graph that data?

having not seen your data....I would think a pivot table/chart would work here....If you are putting in the 1,2,3 the PT will combine your 1,2,3 and then you can select %'s. Then you can turn that into a pivot chart....this will only work if your data is setup in a certain way though....HTH

Pivottable was a perfect idea. However, after i created some example pivottables, i seem to be getting an error message now that i have my data all ready to go.

"Date Reference Source is Not Valid"

I know this has been discussed in other forums but i am still very confused and cannot figure out how to solve this problem.

I'm only highlighting 2 columns, one for product and one for number of issues. Why is my data source not valid?

again without seeing the data, it's hard to say....the error you typed is "Date Reference Source is Not Valid" and that says "Date" not "Data"....do you mean "Data"?....are you using the entire column/s or just the range (IE: highlighting the data set)?...also, it helps the helper if you can upload a subset file with all confidential info removed that really helps....especially in a case like this....thanks...
