plot every Nth value in Line Chart

I have a large data set which overwhelms to plotting capacity. I need to only plot every 10th data point in the chart.

I would like to do this without hiding rows and without adding a column of decimated data, if possible

Is there a direct worksheet function that I can input to the Data Series box to plot every 10th value in my chart?

    hi twd,

I don't think you can do much without a helper column. You could set up a non-contiguous range and select the cells that go into it by Ctrl-Click, or maybe run a macro that creates that range (I wouldn't know how, though). You can then specify the range name as the data source.

Setting up a helper column for your series with a simple Index formula would probably be much faster.

If your line is really a xy-scatter chart then you can use named ranges to plot every Nth value.

Otherwise teylyn's suggestion of helper columns is the best approach.
