Too many PivotChart x-axis label categories

    Hi
I have created a pivot table and chart containing electricity uasage data per phase and the neutral current over a 7 or 8 day period.

The data is sorted by date, then hour then minutes (30, 10 or 2 minute intervals depending on the data source).

When the chart is created the date shows up clearly but the hour and minute labels are there for every hour and every minute so there is a black strip of illegible lables. I just need to turn off or only display every other one so it's legible

I've spent too many hours trying to find the remedy on the net but to no avail. Any help would be great, even a "It can't be done" would help.

I've attached a picture if it helps

    Hi Chatty,

Welcome to the forum! PivotCharts can be tough to work with...and even tougher to format. Could you supply an example workbook, with dummy data, so that other members of the community can play around with it a bit? It's the best way to get an answer quickly. It would be even more helpful if you could include as much info as possible on what your desired outcome might be.
    Thanks,
    Ryan

I guess my desired out come is basically as is but with fewer labels. removing the date sub catagories groups the data for a period together when I really want all the data points to be shown.

Hiding the labels or removing, say 4 of 5 would be enough to make it reasonable to view.

If you create a field that is Date+Time you can control the labelling a little better.

You're right, it does view a bit better. I was just hoping I could keep the different cats separate as they look nicer again that way and is easier to distinguish between days.
    Thanks Andy.

    Hi Chatty

Did you ever get a good solution to your problem, as I have the same issue. My data is by day and time, but I only want the Day displayed in the chart x-axis, but want all the data points for the hours.

    thanks

    Steve
