Many specification limits in one control chart (?)

    Hi

I have been trying to find some tutorial for this alone but every topic explains only chart with one specification limit (upper + lower). File is in the attachment.

Would like to please if someone can check it. In the 5th column from left to right (column F), I have near "%" the brackets. Inside those brackets are IDs of the drawings where I will be able to get specification limits for each different type of bolts for control charts. I will remove those brackets and IDs inside when I will gather all the specification lines. Some of those entries, in the column F, are in blue background. This is note for myself that I don't have the drawing in the database so I will have to take care to search it somewhere else. Between the columns I and M (including I and M) are some blank entries with red backgroud (no numbers inside). This means that those datas must go to P control chart - the chart without values because articles cannot be measured (attrubite - GO / NO GO). Where the values are in red color that means those samples are from scrap. When values are in black color, that means the samples are from the box with "good" parts.

So now I want to create, from entire (!) excel table only two control charts. XbarR and P will be required I guess. My first question is: is this possible? I wonder if I can use so many specification limits (for each bolt type) in the same control chart? The software I use is SPC XL plugin integrated in MS Excel. Having all 5 subgroups in the same control chart would be tricky but I think having just two charts is the best and most understandable way to create this statistics. Am I wrong?

Should I also create Cp / Cpk or capacity? If I am focused on control charts, I don't think that is required at that step.

The reason why I prefer just one XbarR control chart is because everything is on one chart and easily visible. I could have 50+ charts when setting up each subgroup (subgroups are from I to M column) for each type of bolt and this is not really good solution.

I am still trying to figure out how to do everything in one chart. All the tutorials that I found shows only one (higher + lower) specification limits.

Hopefully someone could let me know what to do.

    Thank you in advance

please upload your file to the forum instead of an untrusted external file sharing site. Many of these can not be accessed by users behind corporate firewalls. If you want to have maximum exposure to the helpers here, use the local tools. Click Go Advanced below the Quick Reply box and then the paper clip icon to attach a file.

As an added bonus, our members will be able to see the file size and can decide based on that, whether or not they want to download it. Smaller files get more helpers.

Files of unknown size on untrusted external sites won't get you much response.

The file is 704 KB. When I try to attach, it keeps saying Databse Error. The Excel Help Forum database has encountered a problem. Extension is .xls

Well, I definitely wouldn't download three quarters of a MB. I'm on a data plan, others are even on dial-up.

Maybe you can reduce your file to something less than 100Kb. I'm sure it will upload faster. In general, a few dozen rows of data should be sufficient to illustrate your problem. There's no need to upload the real McCoy.

Have mercy on those trying to help you. Make your data as easily accessible as possible ... and don't post any confidential or personal information.

Ok I changed my first post so I was able to add .zip file in very small size. Those further posts (including this one) might be removed now. Thanks for the warning teylyn.

I suggest you take a look at these links on creating dynamic charts.

Dynamic and Interactive Charts - Peltier Technologies

    Dynamic Charts - Chandoo.org

You could use Data Validation drop downs to select which set of data to chart.

    Do you know . . . ?
