    editing charts data

    Hi!

I have a chart (please view attachment). I want to get rid of all the saturday's and sunday's that show up in the chart (because there is no data in those columns). Its getting the data for that from another sheet which has dates up to the 3rd friday (so for a 3 week period).

I dont know how else to explain this problem I'm having, but if you have other questions I'd be more than happy to answer them.

    Re: editing charts data

Hide the rows in the data source that you don't want to show on the chart, then ensure that Excel is not plotting hidden data in Chart Tools - Design - Select Data - Hidden and empty cells

    Hey teylyn!

I tried that too, but it won't work. (The data is filtered, rather than hidden.) I selected to show as gaps and as zero, but the chart wont do anything.

Any other ideas/suggestions that I should try?

    Thanks for the help!

You need to untick the box for "Show data in hidden rows and columns".

What chart type are you using? Can you upload a small data sample with a chart that displays the behaviour you describe?

    Re: editing charts data

When I go "Hidden and Empty Cells" the checkbox for Show data in hidden rows and columns is already unchecked.

I've uploaded the data sample that I've been using. Please see attachment.

    THANKS!

    longhorn,

in a setting like this, where your axis interpolates missing values, because it is set to a time scale, you can not leave out weekend days. Each day counts as its own value, because it is a unit on the scale.

If you want that kind of functionality in a Gantt, you'll need to use MS Project or similar.
