ActiveX command button visible through Chart

Hi,

I converted to Excel2007 recently from 2003. I wrote a dashboard that displays pop-up charts when a activex button is pressed.

In 2003 I moved all the button back Using Right Click->Order->Send to Back so that when the charts popped up the underlying buttons would not be visible.

Now in 2007 that doesnt seem to work and the buttons are visible through the charts. I've searched but not found anyone else with this problem.

Are the buttons really visible through the chart?

For me the buttons are on a separate graphics layer which is abover that of the chart.

Hi Andy,

Yes you are correct, the buttons are on a seperate graphic layer above that of the chart.
Can the buttons be moved to a seperate graphic layer below that of the chart?

Not that I know of. xl2007 introduced a separate layer for charts/shapes/smart art and controls.

I guess the work around would be to make the buttons actual invisible whilst the chart is in popup mode.

Hi Andy,

Unfortuantely I cant make all the buttons invisible as users must be able move the pop-up chart around and click on the other buttons to make more pop-up windows appear for comparison purposes.

If we can determine the position of the chart on the sheet and the position of the command button then I would be able to only make those buttons that are within the area of the chart invisible, as the charts are off a standard size.

Is there a way to determine the position of a chart and a button?
