formatting a multi-level catagory axis label???

Any suggestions on how to fix the attached chart would be much appreciated.

The chart labeled "Date & Time" is using a two level axis. But I can't get it to look right.

I cannot change how much is displayed. I've changed the interval between labels etc to no avail. Please help if you can. I'd like it to be legible even if the labels are spread out unevenl. Or even better would be to know how to set the labels at a certain spot say 12am for each day.

The other chart just shows the hours but that doesn't give the user an idea of what date it is. Thanks for any help!!!

OK, so I had a look and the problem is that the times are turned sideways but the dates are not. So the dates just overlap each other horribly and make the whole thing a black smudge. There doesn't seem to be a way to select the dates part of the labels to do anything with them.

I couldn't easily find a solution with your current setup. Is it possible for you to have an extra (possibly hidden) column on your data worksheet that adds the date and time together so you can just use this for your x-axis? This would give you several better options than you have currently; for starters the whole axis label would be turned sideways, and secondly you could choose to make it a time-scale axis instead (in Chart Options).

try creating a reduce set of information for the multilevel category axis.
See new category data to right of data table.

Re: formatting a multi-level catagory axis label???

    Hello.
In my case, I have a meteorogical chart, with two different Y axis (values of Temperature and Relative Humidity) and a multilevel X axis (categories)wich represents days and hours.

When I did this kind of charts in office 2003 there were no problems, and I select vertical primary gridlines for each day interval; and secondary vertical gridlines every 6 hours... in order to check easily different behaviours.

But, in newer version of Office 2010 it is an impossible mission, hehe. When I select multiple X axis, the gridlines interval option doesnt work properly... I´m sure about this because when I change from multilevel to simple level, it recover the desired interval option... until I check again the multilevel, and it goes to hell one more time.

    Does anyone solved this problem?
