Change default colors for column chart?

I have a stacked column chart where each column represents a single day. I am tracking how many times a machine starts and stops during the day, and want a visual representation of how much time the machine was stopped (red) and how much time it was running (green). The number of starts and stops during the day will vary from single digits to 30+. So far, after creating the chart, I have had to manually format each data series to give me the desired colors. Is there a way to change the automatically assigned colors to alternate between two colors?

Edit: I have tried Excel Options > Save > Colors and changing the Chart Fills to alternating red and green. This palette is not where Excel is drawing its fill colors from. (Neither is the Chart Lines palette.)

This chart shows the colors I am seeing in my charts, but I can't find it anywhere within Excel and can't find how to change it.
