How to create a chart from data to see patterns, aka Tracking Mood and Cups of Coffee

    Hi guys,

In the attached Excel 07 file, I have a left column with dates, and horizontally for each date there's a handful of random variables I've tracked (mood that day, whether I drank coffee, etc.)

I would like to see if there are any "hidden" correlations between data, e.g. if my mood goes down with my cups of coffee.

    How would you do this?

I figure I could identify some patterns visually, if I could just get a chart with dates on the x-axis, values on the y-axis, and each variable as a different colored line (haven't gotten this to work).

Ideally, though, I'd like a statistical tool to analyze the data and summarize correlation for every possible combination, e.g. mood and coffee, mood and hours slept, etc. without having to run a "correlation" or "pearson" formula for every possible pairing of data.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Well...

if you have a big table of data and you want to walk around looking for correlations, that's pretty much what Pivot Tables are for....
