Gnatt Chart download in 2010

Hi all,
please help, I have downloaded the template for the gnatt chart and I understand and can modify it ( it's set up in 1/4's),but the roll out elements to the left of column A how do I change these. This means the tab which is either a cross when rolled up or a line when it displays the listed data. How do a change/edit or delete them from the view

Are you talking about this template? Or a different one?

Usually this board prefers that you upload the specific spreadsheet you're working with so we can look at your specific problems.

But, right off the bat I'm wondering,

How can you have anything to the left of column A???

This has nothing to to with a Gantt chart (note: it's Gantt, not Gnatt)
