    Help with Bar graphs?

I'm not sure why everyone in this office thinks I know everything there is to know about excel, but they always drop this stuff on my desk.
Anyway - They want me to make a bar graph for each month that separates the type of person (i.e.: PCA, Physician) and then use the data in columns B & D.
She wants a separate chart for each month. If the column has no information then she doesn't want that counted.
Can anyone help? Thank you in advance!

I'd convert the date column into real dates first, then create a pivot chart grouping the dates by month as an axis field with the person type (you could also put month as a report filter). see attached workbook

if at first you don't succeed try doing it the way your wife told you to

That is incredible! I wish I had the knowledge to do this.
Would you want to do that for the other 2 quarters? LOL. I seriously have no idea how you did that.
    Thank you so, so much!

select the date data, choose Data tab, Text to columns, choose Delimited in step 1, uncheck all options in step 2, and specify a date field format MDY in step 3, then press Finish. that converts to real dates.
now select all the data and on the Insert tab click the arrow below 'pivot table' and choose pivot chart and press OK on the dialog.
drag the date field in the pivot chart field list to the Axis field area, then right click a date in the pivot table (not chart) and choose Group and then group by month. now drag the 'Health Care worker category' field to the axis field area, below the date field. then drag the 'before patient contact' and 'after patient contact' fields to the Values area.
finally right click the chart and change the chart type to bar chart.

    repeat as required. :-)

no problem - I figured it was more use telling you how instead of just doing it for you. ;-)

    Re: Help with Bar graphs?

    Hi,
JosephP, allow me to continue your work
    See the attached file:
    - Table and PivotChart for each quarter
    - Table and PivotChart summary of three quarters (insert with pivot table wizard)
Note: data sheets have been turned into table
The tables are dynamic and thus allow the insertion or removal of data
After an insertion or removal, do not forget to refresh the PivotTable
    I hope this is helpful
    Best regards

    @ My3QTPies

Based on your last post it seems that you are satisfied with the solution(s) you've received but you haven't marked your thread as SOLVED. I'll do that for you now but please keep in mind for your future threads that Rule #9 requires you to do that yourself. If your problem has not been solved you can use Thread Tools (located above your first post) and choose "Mark this thread as unsolved".
    Thanks.
