Chart show incorrect and non-existent dates

I have a chart which, up until I entered the last row in the series was working fine. When I added the information for 31/8/12 (dd/mm/yy), the chart did two things. First of all it changed all the dates on the chart rendering to the first of the month, and second it extended the chart an addition 4 months which aren't in the series. Can anyone shed some light on why this might have happened? (Excel 2010, Windows 7).
I've attached a screen shot of the spreadsheet.
    Thank you.

The axis is probably showing dates by Month.

If you only want the data points in your data displayed on the axis then set the axis to Text rather than Data. Use the format Axis dialog.

Also check the date entry of cell A8 31/dec/2012, which is probably a typo

Man that was fast. Thank you very much. 31/dec/2012 was indeed a typo. I'd moved on to the new year by the time I added that row. I would have never seen that in a million years.
Also thanks for the tip re axis format. Life is good in my little charting world. :-)

    @ pjdanderson

Based on your last post it seems that you are satisfied with the solution(s) you've received but you haven't marked your thread as SOLVED. I'll do that for you now but please keep in mind for your future threads that Rule #9 requires you to do that yourself. If your problem has not been solved you can use Thread Tools (located above your first post) and choose "Mark this thread as unsolved".
    Thanks.

    Cutter,

Thanks for the tips. I should have done both of those things but got so excited by having my problem resolved, I didn't. Mea Culpa (sincerely).

You did not, however, have to mark the problem "SOLVED". Given the advice I would have been quite happy to do that myself.
