Hello All,
Name is Jeff, and I am new here. I am trying to create a Line graph/scatter plot of different types of leave taken throughout monthly increments. The data in the attached workbook is a mere snippet of the 5k+ entries. The way the data is displayed requires it to be put into a table as I have attempted to make to the right so that it can easily be graphed. My questions are as follows:
1) Is there an easier way to simply take the data as is and convert it straight to a line graph/Scatter plot with the X axis having Month-Year across, the Y-axis hours taken, and different line plots per type of leave taken? The thing with this is that it would have to automatically sort and sum the type of leave taken per month.
2) If not 1, then what is the easiest way to sort through the left data to input it into the right table? I currently have
" =IF(AND(B2:B30=E2,A2:A30>=DATE(2011,7,1),A2:A5<=DATE(2011,7,31)),SUM(C2:C30),"") "
entered into the first cell of the table, however it still sums the rows that do not agree with the B2:B30=E2 rule. Furthermore, by using this formula I would have to manually type in the date range for each specified cell. I would much rather have one master formula/function to drag across.
3) Am I making this task more difficult than it actually is? The only Excel training I have had up to this point used the "Practical Management Science 4th edition" textbook.
Any and all information, help, or direction is greatly appreciated.
-Jeff
