Removing Duplicate Dates on X-axis

Hello everyone,
i've not found this particular question anywhere and i hope i'm not doubling-up questions.
On the attached sheet the reference E9 represents the 'average daily' for the date '24/1/12' i.e. it combines the contributions from the two records on rows 8 & 9 (both for 24/1/12).
When i plot the graph, i can't get rid of the gap corresponding to the empty cell E8.
Is there a way to do it without coding? If there isn't, can anyone suggest appropriate code?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Remove all merged cells
Filter the data fields
Remove empty cell in Average daily column
