I have two line charts that I wish to fill in--essentially, I want overlapping, semi-transparent area charts. I'm not using actual area charts with borders because I don't like how their borders extend around the entire shape of the area fill. I just want a solid line where it would be if it were a line chart, not wrapping around the axes beside and below the area fill.
The approach I'm trying is to create two area charts with no borders, and then creating two line charts on top of them using the same two data series. The problem is that the line charts always appear above the area charts, no matter how I order them in the raw data worksheet or how I order them in the Select Data window. This isn't a problem for the series I want to display on top, but for the series I want in back, its line appears in front of the the area fill for the series I want in front.
That is, I want to display, from front to back:
Series 1 Line, Series 1 Area, Series 2 Line, Series 2 Area.
But what I can't seem to avoid getting is:
Series 1 Line, Series 2 Line, Series 1 Area, Series 2 Area.
Is there any way I can get my desired order without creating two separate charts and placing them on top of each other?
