Question How do you make this chart in Excel?

I am curious about how one goes about making such a chart in Excel (Graphic attached in this post). All the bars are actually increments of one grand total. Also what is this chart called?

To make it either use a stacked column with 2 series. The first formated as no fill or border, giving the floating appearance.

Or cluster column, overlap set to 100%, first series is the total value for each category. second series is the previous category value which would then mask the bottom of the column. Format this with no border and same fill as plotarea.

Sorry for the late response.......Thanks Andy!! I'll try what you said. Seems doable although it could be time consuming.

In the meanwhile if anyone can point me to a step by step tutorial, I would be much obliged!
