Hi
I can't think of a way to do it, though one of the forum gurus may come up with something
it could be done by drawing in lines or adding series that look like gridlines if you like though - would that help?
Thank you for your quick reply, NickyC, but that would not help.
As far as I know, Excel only knows how to draw perpendicular gridlines. If you want anything else (45° gridlines, for example), you will have to teach Excel how to draw them. This is done as NickyC suggested -- add one or more "dummy series" (as a line or scatter chart) to the chart.
Thank you MrShorty and NickyC.
I am using a bubble chart. Could you please let me know how to insert a "dummy series" as an angled line?
thank you again!
I don't use bubble charts, so I'm not familiar with the nuances of using them. That said, the usual approach is to create a table in the spreadsheet for the gridlines (comma delimited):
select this table, and paste it into the chart, and, if necessary, change the chart type for this data series to xy scatter.![]()
x,y minx,minx,minx+1,minx+2,... maxx,maxx,maxx+1,maxx+2,...
However, in testing, Excel tells me that bubble charts cannot be combined with other chart types, so this may not work with bubble charts. Someone more familiar with bubble charts may have an alternative solution.
Thank you again, Mr Shorty!
No worries, I will just draw the angled line.
Thank you again for your help.
