Pivot table removes formatting on update

    Hi,

We use a pivot table to present data that has been filtered from a "main" worksheet.

We gave the cells in the main worksheet a blue border all around and also did this to the pivot table.

But when we update the pivot table it will remove the blue border of many cells and make it look unprofessional.

How can we get it to keep the same format even when updated?

if you have already checked the 'preserve formatting' option in table options and turned off the autoformat then you have to use a macro to reformat any lost formatting-using the worksheet's pivottableupdate event

if at first you don't succeed try doing it the way your wife told you to

Hmm, I do have both of those as you say they should be and the problem continues.

Would this macro have to be in place at all times or would it be a "1 time fix"? (Assume all time by the way you word, which is unfortunate...)

    Thanks Joseph

the code has to remain in place but will at least run automatically when you refresh the pivot table. 2007 and later versions are better about retaining formatting generally
