Line chart with shading to indicate a time span

I am trying to create a combination line and stacked area chart, using the stacked area to indicate a date span.

I can either get the area to span the incorrect dates as a nice rectangle or I can get it to span the correct dates as a trapazoid shape.

My data file (sample shading) shows both variations, neither of which is quite correct. The second file came from a poster to this site (sample shading from site), and the poster got it as a rectangle and I don't know what he/she did that I am not doing. I don't think that one does exactly what I want either b/c I can't seem to make it shift to other dates, but it looks like what I want, with the ability to define the date span.

    Thanks.

    Hello
Take a look at attached reply, on the 'Chart with Shading' tab. Does this do as you require? It uses a column chart on the secondary axis. By entering '1' you can highlight a month or combination of months.

    Hope this helps.
