High low chart in Excel (preferably with values horizontal)

I am trying to generate several figures from data that are show (and span) the high and low value of several data points.

    For example:

    High Low
    N1 1 10
    N2 4 10
    N3 5 10
    N4 6 9
    N5 1 3

In this case each row would be a line that connects the low point to the high point. N1 would be a line spanning from 1 to 10....

In an ideal world the Y axis would be each individual row (N1..N5) and the X axis would be be values 1-10.

Here is something close to what I am trying to emulate.

I have been able to recreate something similar with a stock chart, but feel that it is a little inefficient.

I am not even sure what the name of this style of chart is. I have always called it a high low chart, but Google results for that term do not turn up many unusable results.

    Thanks for help in advance.

    Hi RNP70,

    Welcome to the forums.

I would recommend creating a Stacked Bar Chart of your data and changing the Fill Color of the Low series to No Fill and creating a new series to equal to the High minus the low. Then change the series options of the columns to No Gap.

Here is a sample of your chart with your data:

Here is a sample data set of 1000 data points to see what that would look like:

It is very similar to a Gantt Chart in Excel. Here is a step by step tutorial or a video tutorial of a basic Gantt Chart for Excel:

Please let me know if it helps.
