Best Chart for mix of positives and negatives

I'm looking to create a chart that'll effectively show the overall loss of a company and all the pieces that make it up. Let's say the overall loss is $1,000. There are 8 plants that make up up the overall company. 5 with profit, 3 with a loss. It's tough to find a chart to effectively display negs and positives. Pies seem like a definite no even-though I am trying to depict the "pieces of the whole relationship." Any suggestions out there? Below are number to play with.

    Plant 1 $200
    Plant 2 $200
    Plant 3 $200
    Plant 4 $100
    Plant 5 $100
    Plant 6 $-700
    Plant 7 $-600
    Plant 8 $-500

    Total $-1,000

My impression from your question was that you wanted the overall effect of the chart to show each of the plants' results and also show the aggregate. You might want to add a data series showing cumulative sums and then set the plant sums as bars or charts and company result (cumulative sum) as a different chart type (e.g. line, point). Or you could use donuts. If you like the donuts, see attached:
    1. Insert the company loss in the plant-profit series
    2. Add additional data points to each series equally the series absolute total
    3. Rotate both donut rings 270 degrees
I don't know if this is what you want or not, but it's another option. Easier to set up than it may sound and shown in the attached.

Thank you all for your help. I particularly love the donut! I think I'll use that! Thanks.

Re: Best Chart for mix of positives and negatives

    Andy,

I though about using a waterfall. But there's no "beginning point" to my data. I'm just trying to show a snapshot a company income as it is currently. Thanks for the help.
