Filtering

I ran into a situation yesterday which has happened before to me. I have a spreadsheet that has 14 columns. I put filters on all columns. After filtering for a few weeks with no issues, today some of the data in not in the original row I entered it into. My data has crossed and now I can't use it. I am about to build a different spreadsheet and I am holding back because there will be three times as many columns and I need to filter it. I don't want my data to get messed up. So my question is how did this happen? The only thing that I can think of is that I used a projector and since then I have the problem. Thanks for your help I hope this makes sense.

I' am not very much clear with your requirement, could you please mention the same in detail. Also if possible attach a sample file.
