Question Adding an extra column to a pivot table.

    Hi guys,

I have set up a pivot table to show me productivity of staff. The first column contains their names, the second column contains the total hours they have worked all week and the final column displays their work rate. Is it possible to add another column to the table that will calculate the average (rate/hours).

    Cheers guys!

yes, make a new column in your data and calculate it there, then change the data set in your pivot table to include it

if you don't have the underlying data, do a reverse pivot, by double clicking ont the lower most right cell (must have all values showing or it will only pull out the rows that have data showing)

Re: Adding an extra column to a pivot table.

I ended up getting some help from a friend. He suggested the same at first but due to the nature of the workflow and the pivot table referencing several data sources I could only work out the average from the pivot table. In the end he suggested the following.

"Go to option in the toolbar menu, select field items and sets then calculated field, give it a name and then add the the field/field you want."

    and that worked a treat.

Thanks for your reply anyway Scott, much appreciated.
