    Renaming multiple legend series

    Hi

How does one rename multiple legend series on a graph at once without editing them individually one by one?

Possibly with VBA, though since legend entries are simply replications of whatever you have selected as the Series' Names - which can be referenced from a cell (or series of cells) - possibly also without. Or have you manually typed in text for each of the Series' Names instead? If not (and so they are referenced from cells), you may be able to do a bulk Find/Replace on the entries in these cells, though it kind of depends on what you wish to rename them to.

    Graph.jpg

I Have posted a pic. As you will see on the right of the graph is "Series1" to "Series21" this should be "Level1" to "Level21". I have a lot of these graphs and to link every series to a cell will take a lot of time. how do I change the "Series" to "Level" all in one go for each graph? I have tried the replace but excel doesn't pick it up.

You need to have these names included in your data table and then amend the Chart Data Range. Provided it is set up correctly, Excel will then interpret which part of your table contains the Series' names. Without defining the names, Excel will default to using this ‘Series 1’, ‘Series 2’,…nomenclature.

Insert an extra column to the left of your dataset, add the appropriate name to each of your Series, then right-click on the chart, Select Data and amend the Chart Data Range to include this new column.

Pleasure. Nice-looking graph by the way. Best of luck.
