    graph with gridlines based on risk profile

    Dears,

    Is it possible to have multiple colors in the plot area of a graph? I would like to make a bar graph with a plot area which shows a certain risk level as well (related to the size of the bar).

    If yes, how do you that?

    the attachment makes is a bit more clear I think.

    looking forward to your help.

    Create C D & E as helper columns Put

    C4=0-50
    D4=51-101
    E4=101-150

    Then

    C5
    Formula: copy to clipboard

    Drag towards the cells and down..

    Now inset the chart with Range A4:B11 then select the same chart. Now put the cursor on the green highlighting line or red color and until it changes to cross arrow and manger range.

    All done

    Check the attached file.

    hope this is what you looking for??

    Hi Shukla,

    thanks for you reply. This is not exactly what I'm looking for. The original comes form a pivot table. I do not hink that I have the option you suggest becuase I cannot change my table data.

    I'm looking for the background behind the bars. I would like to change the background (plot area) in 3 colors.

    I'm not quite sure what you are trying to do, but it looks like you are trying to do this: http://peltiertech.com/excel-charts-...izontal-bands/

    You indicate that your chart is a pivot chart, which can be limited in many ways. You may also need to be aware of how to make a regular chart from pivot data so that the chart does not become a pivot chart: http://peltiertech.com/regular-chart...-pivot-tables/
