Graph dropping to zero even though #N/A used

    Morning all,

I've combined an area graph with a column graph to highlight the change in two periods of data, and would like the area graph not to drop to zero as it does on the attached "Total Subscriber current year" tab.

After a quick search I came across a method of substituting zeros for #N/A which many claim would work, yet it still nosedives between weeks 42 and 43 (formulae found at cell AQ48:AR52).

Could anyone give me a lead as to what I've done wrong here or how to prevent this??

    Thanks in advance,

    Mike

it might actually be easier to see if you just posted a graph of the series that does not work

Thanks Martin, have reattached a simplified version of the workbook showing only one graph and have hidden/deleted all other rows to only leave the data set that drives the graph visible.

    Cheers,

    Mike

If you use stacked sub-types then data will be sloped between last data point and zero.

If you have xl2003 then even with non stacked sub-chart the last non point will slope, unless the axis is Time series and you provide 2 sets of data for the last data point.

Thanks Andy. Using Excel 2010, but I'm afraid I don't quite follow your reply. Is there a workaround for this, or are you suggesting I change the chart type? Would be helpful if you could illustrate as per the attachment as this has been driving me (and a few others in the office) insane for a while now...

    Thanks,

    Mike

You will need to change the 2 stacked area series to normal area.
Change the plot order to bring the lower valued one to the front. Also change the values of the other series to sum both sets of values to give the appearance of stacking.

Thanks Andy, worked like a charm. Don't know how on earth I'd ever have worked that out, much appreciated!
