Pivot Table by color (without VBA)?

    Hi,

I'm looking to create a Pivot Table that is summarizes data points by color. A sample data input sheet is attached. Let me explain:

    - There are a total of 15 skus (SKU01 - SKU15)
    - I've used Conditional Formatting (by formula) to highlight each of these SKUs by certain conditional criteria

What I want to see as a final product is (from the sample spreadsheet):

    - A Pivot Table that would have a count of (1) Blue - 4, (2) Pink - 3, (3) Orange - 2, and (4) No Fill - 6

    A few things about me:

    - I don't know VBA and, thus, would not understand any VBA instructions/directions
    - I have Excel 2010 (Windows)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know. Thank you.

    Hi popipipo,

Right after I posted my question, I realized (as you did) that if I had an "intermediate" column that had the same formula(s) as what I used to calculate the conditional formatting in the first place, that that would accomplish what I was looking to do. So, thank you for solidifying my thought process (it's certainly an option).

But what I was looking for is not to have this "intermediate" column and just have the Pivot Table work with the existing format/spreadsheet that I already have. I have this spreadsheet for every week going back for a couple of years (with thousands of SKUs for each week), so if I could avoid doing this "extra step", that would be great.

So, all in all, your idea works, but I was just wondering if this could be accomplished by a Pivot Table directly (with the inclusion of colors).

Please let me know. Thank you for your help.

I don't think it wil work without the "intermediate" column.

Thank you very much for your help, popipipo...I think you're right, but maybe somebody has another thought?

    Anybody else have any thoughts?
