Accessibly Selecting Chart Area in Excel 2007

    Hello!

I am volunteering in a cyber cafe attempting to teach a few visually impaired people basic Excel skills. Google is my friend and solves most of my issues, however I am unable to find a solution for this one.

I have a chart I have moved to its own tab in Excel 2007. If the chart is deselected (eg press escape twice), I can find no way of reselecting it (and therefore no way to format it) using only the keyboard (no mouse as requires visual feedback). I suspect I am missing something obvious, could someone point it out to me please?

    Thanks,
    KI Singh

The chart format area select should display an Alt text field that the details of the chat can be added to for visually impaired users

    Also, found this online

"You can select charts from selection pane. This can be launched with keyboard sequence ALT+HFDP (Press ALT+H then leave alt and press FD then P)"

Re: Accessibly Selecting Chart Area in Excel 2007

Thanks for the reply AYdata, got me on the way.

This works well if the chart is already selected. If not then excel treats the chart as a pane (like the help box), so I needed to scroll through them using F6 until the chart was selected. This makes the contextual chart design tabs show, at which point the alt method can be used.

    Cheers.
