Condensing Dates on a Pivot Table possible?

I have a file (attached) with individual transactions and date stamps. More than one transaction may occur on the same date.

These are part numbers, and I need to map out the usage of the parts. I am doing statistical analysis, so just working out the average and max won't work. I'll be going after standard deviation as well.

I can work all that out - I've done it before. My problem is that I can only get 256 columns of data into the spreadsheet. 90 days of data should surely fit, no? - but alas, no. Because each transaction is separate, May 8th may have 24 different occurrences, consuming 24 columns. I would really like one column for each date, then drop the usage data into each part-number row.

Perhaps a method to condense on the data table, before I create the pivot ? - but I am lost.
    any help is GREATLY appreciated!!

Insert a date column (I) in sheet TransactionReportDetails with formula:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

Use this column in the pivot table instead of the date/time column

Right click the column field - Select "Group" - Select "By Days" - Done
