Interactive pie charts from drop down menu

    Hi all,

I am trying to create a pie chart with 3 variables (carbohydrates, fats, proteins) daily for an entire year. It looks incredibly unprofessional to have 365 pie charts on a sheet. I'm trying to figure out a way that I can use a drop down menu to select the day of the year in question and have the chart data change with my selection.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance!

    Respectfully,

    Kevin

Uploading a sample workbook of your data would help.
This should be possible, but posting some mock data in the exact structure of your actual file makes it easier for someone to provide a solution.

Re: Interactive pie charts from drop down menu

I'm attaching a template resembling one of the possible scenarios I am looking at. Some of the data in this workbook is drawn from other books, so if y'all are unable to view it,just let me know and I will try to rectify that.

This particular sheet in my workbook would be for a client that is trying to lose weight. As the workbook shows, on the left hand side I have "model" pie charts that show what I WANT their meals to look like throughout the day (proportion-wise) in order for them to reach their desired goals. On the right hand side, I want to have what their meals are ACTUALLY looking like (so I can begin to make recommendations based on what I see).

To the right on the charts on the right side (bare with me here) there is a small chart that has a sample of the first 7 days of tracking the clients daily intake of macronutrients. This would be expanded in my actual sheet to go all the way until the end of 2014. My dilemma is that I want to ideally be able to have a drop down menu next to the graph that I can choose the date I want to look at and the pie chart corresponding to that date shows up so I can compare them to the "model" pie charts I have on the left hand side.

If y'all have trouble viewing the workbook, or if any of what I just said doesn't make sense, just say so and I will work to rectify/clarify what I'm trying to get done.

    Thank you again,

    Kevin

I couldn't figure it out at first, but once I realized calculations were set to manual, that helped quite a bit.

I created a new sheet to hopefully clearly show you the logic of what I made, and you can apply it where applicable in your file.

Change the date in B3, and the chart should respond accordingly. The INDEX and MATCH formulas are what you needed.
I would also do incorporate a dropdown into cell B3, but that is up to you.
