Trying to summarise data with horizontal headings - Excel 2010

samplesummarydata.xlsxIn the attached sample I want to summarize the data by calculating the total for each month. I tried a pivot table but the horizontal headings seem to be a problem.

I'm sure I've done this in another workbook at another work place but cannot remember how! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you attach a sample of your workbook it will be easier to find a solution. Remember to remove/replace sensitive data before uploading the file. Look here if you need help with attachments:

    Hi tuph,

I've included a macro that will convert your data to a proper table that you can then do a Pivot Table on. You will need to group by dates also. See the attached.

Run the macro on your data and input a 1 (one) since you have only one left (fixed) column.

Thanks Marvin. I was not clear enough when I said
to summarize the data by calculating the total for each month
. I do not want to include the customer names in the pivot table - just the month and total $ value. How do I eleiminate the customer column from your macro?
