    Year = Year

    [New to the forum]

    I am in the Army National Guard. I have a group of people with a "hire date". Units can receive a unit award for "best unit in the state". If someone was in the unit when the unit award was presented, I would like a cell to be highlighted orange. Kicker -- if someone was serving prior to a year when the unit received the unit award, they are eligible as well. So I need some type of formula that checkes the "hire date" year against the year a unit award was received. If that individual's "hire date" is <= to the award year, then the cell to the right of the "hire date" and under the year the unit received an award will highlight orange. I only want one cell to be highlighted -- to equal the earliest opportunity the individual was in the unit when the earliest unit award was received. This is for generating permanent orders for the unit award.

    Confused yet?? Anyone that can help out would be much appreciated!

    Yes.

    A picture speaks a thousand words. If you had uploaded a workbook to provide a quick mockup of what you were after it would have been much easier. Remember that tip for future

    Attached is my attempt. If it's not what you wanted then it's because I had trouble working out what you wanted from your description!

    Re: Year = Year

    select C2:C10
    so to add conditional formatting
    where you have E2=true
    change to
    =B2<=D2
